Marko Svičevič

Dr Marko Svičevič is a lecturer and researcher at the Centre for International Humanitarian and Operational Law (CIHOL), Faculty of Law, Palacký University in Olomouc, the Czech Republic. He is also a senior research associate with the South African Research Chair in International Law at the University of Johannesburg. His research primarily focuses on international law and the use of military force, including UN Security Council authorisation of force, self-defence, and the use of force against non-state actors. His work has been published in inter alia the Journal on the Use of Force and International Law (where he is also a regional coordinator for the digest of State Practice), the Max Planck Yearbook of United Nations Law, and the South African Yearbook of International Law. Marko has presented research and guest lectured in various universities and institutes in the Czech Republic, South Africa, Austria, Germany, Australia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the United Kingdom. He is a member of the Australian and New Zealand Society of International Law, the Young Criminal Lawyers Association, and the European Society of International Law.
